Nepal Earthquake Death Toll Rises, Relief Efforts Set Back Two weeks after Nepal had been hit by a 7.8 magnitude earthquake, killing over 8,000 people and causing widespread damage, the country was hit by another major earthquake, with the death toll rising to 96 as of May 14, 2014. Organizations struggling to provide relief efforts have had a setback after the increased damage caused by Tuesday’s earthquake, but continue to provide vital supplies and shelter to survivors on the ground.
