Crowdfunding Education: From Cash Back to Give Back – Cashkaro.com brings rural kids #BackToSchool

In such a competitive e-commerce environment, when a brand like this sets up a Milaap campaign to support a cause they care about, it leaves us overwhelmed and grateful at the good that goes around.

The campaign invites small loans to help educate kids in Odisha and will have each contribution matched, rupee for rupee, by Cashkaro.com. The initiative by Cashkaro.com will help school kids in rural India head back to school and continue their education.

This is the first of many such initiatives that Cashkaro.com aims to launch. The children benefiting from this belong to impoverished families in Odisha who cannot afford school fees any more. Faced with the risk of pulling their children out of school due to lack of funds, the families seek small loans to pay the fees. Milaap has partnered with the Mahashakti Foundation in Odisha to provide these children (as young as 6 years) affordable education loans to continue their studies. The loans help their parents pay the children’s school fees, purchase textbooks and shoes and the parents repay the loan in monthly instalments.

Swati Bhargava, the co-founder of Cashkaro.com, is an ex Goldman Sachs banker and London School of Economics graduate. With an illustrious career backed by strong academic pedigree, Swati is aware of how far education can propel the life of a student. The company is aggressively promoting this initiative on their website as well as social media to spread word about the campaign. The collaboration with Milaap is focused on helping underprivileged kids to go back to school.
